Captain
Fredrick Pabst Mansion - In 1892, the Flemish
Renaissance Mansion of Captain Frederick Pabst was finished, and
was considered the jewel of Milwaukee's famous avenue of
mansions called the Grand Avenue. At the time of its completion
Captain Pabst was 57 years old and was an accomplished sea
captain, beer baron, real estate developer, philanthropist and
patron of the arts. The Pabst Mansion is a testament to his
success, his love of life and his German heritage. Boasting 37
rooms, 12 baths and 14 fireplaces, the Mansion helped make the
1890's the "Pabst Decade" in Milwaukee. (414)

The
Cedar Creek Winery - is nestled in the wonderful
old-world ambiance of the Cedar Creek Settlement, a restored
1860's woolen mill that was once the largest west of the
Alleghenies. The mill was powered by the rushing waters of Cedar
Creek, which were channeled down the mill race and through an
open-flume water wheel. The 50-horsepower water wheel generated
electricity and ran the mill's 21 looms and knitting machines,
which converted heavy Wisconsin wool into yarns, blankets,
flannels -- and even socks for the old Chicago White Sox.

The
East Troy Electric Railroad Museum - operates on
original Milwaukee Electric Railway & Light Company
interurban trackage dating back to 1907. Seven miles of the
original line from Milwaukee to East Troy, plus an additional
mile and a half added later remain, and continues as a living
railroad as well as a museum. The East Troy Electric Railroad is
operated entirely by volunteers, a group of people dedicated to
preservation of this historic railroad and the presentation of
early electric railroading in the interurban setting. The line
is connected with the Wisconsin Central Ltd. at the Mukwonago,
Wisconsin interchange. Freight still moves over the East Troy
Electric, though at a rate much less than in the heyday of the
line's freight business. The line was transferred from the TM to
the Village of East Troy in 1939. The village operated the
railroad with its own employees until 1985, when the entire
operation was taken over by Wisconsin Trolley Museum, Inc, under
the name of the East Troy Electric Railroad. (262)
